My maternal grandmother took the african ancestry test back in 2009 before she passed, which revealed that our most recent female ancestor was Balanta (Guinea-Bissau) AND Mende (Sierra-Leone). We’re from “Geechees” from northern Florida, but my great-grandmother migrated there from Ridgeland, SC near Savannah, GA

Omowale!!!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03145302984432107999noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5751220465315554061.post-48129412239074946892017-10-04T16:01:08.184-07:002017-10-04T16:01:08.184-07:00!!!Omowale!!!

My parents were born in St Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean, and I've traced my lineage through my Mother. I haven't traced my Father's lineage as yet, but we have a head shape which is often seen on Ghanian people.
I have emailed you GuiGui as I also live in London and would love to connect and meet the community which I had absolutely no knowledge of!
Hopefully meet you soon.

PeaceShakhemhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13327098120889259823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5751220465315554061.post-22630865959601417562016-12-27T21:21:14.261-08:002016-12-27T21:21:14.261-08:00I was Born in Guinea Bissau capital Bissau in Sima...I was Born in Guinea Bissau capital Bissau in Simao Mendes Hospital I'm 22 years old living in London, England and there is a big Bissau Guinean community here. Oh yeah I am a Balanta but I can't speak Balanta it is too complicated I got family members that speak it but when they speak it I can't understand not even a word, but I am fluent in Criolu and Portuguese. I am very knowledgeable about our history and tradition (Beyond What You See On The Internet) feel free to ask any questions. Mariobarros.gb@hotmail.com thanks. I would really like to connect with people who traced their origin back to Guinea Bissau and want to find out more. I was told her people were from Jamaica, before that I don't know. Anyone who knows anything about western statistics knows that anything above 95% is extremely excellent! I am just thrilled, as is my baby girl who suggested I be tested!!! Glad to meet both my ancestors & my new relatives!
